Our biggest cycling event to date, despite incredibly bad weather and rain, successfully behind us. All credit for this goes mainly to you, cyclists, and to the entire team who helped execute the event with quality.
The numbers are really impressive:
- 70 police officers on the route in Slovenia
- 5 police officers on the routes in Austria
- 25 motorcyclists on the route
- over 100 people responsible for managing the course and ensuring the safety and smooth flow of the eventon the routes
- three medical service teams
- the entire team of Tourism Kamnik, led by Luka Svetec
- thanks to all 11 municipalities along the course and specialy authorities in AUSTRIA
- our entire organizational team, and of course
- Mayor of Kamnik, Mr. Matej Slapar, who supported our idea and the execution of the event
Over 300 participants from 10 countries finally started on three routes:
- PRO 130 km with three mountain passes and over 2000 meters of elevation gain
- HOBBY 75 km with two challenging climbs and 1454 meters of elevation gain
- Črnivec Climb 15 km with 534 meters of elevation gain
It’s not just the weather on the route that’s crucial, but also all the climbs that awaited participants on the PRO ROUTE on what is definitely the most beautiful Slovenian route. First, participants tackled the initial mountain pass, Črnivec, at an elevation of 905 meters. The second mountain pass, Pavlič Pass, is fairly passable from the Logar Valley side, although it rises to 1339 meters, where it was only 14 degrees despite the downpour. This was followed by a steep descent of over 7 km into Austria on a rather poor road, and then immediately another climb up to Jezersko at 1216 meters. The rain did not stop throughout. From the last pass, a 50 km final segment followed, descending all the way to the finish.
WEATHER CONDITIONS…NO COMMENT
Rain at the start, a brief break from Črnivec, but constant rain and downpours from there to the 100 km mark. Wet and dangerous roads, a varied and difficult route—in short, conditions that were really only for the most persistent. Despite this, we can be glad that we recorded only three falls, and those with minor consequences, which we hope will heal as soon as possible.
The last 20 kilometers were brightened by the sun. Despite this, participants on all routes did not give up and confidently cycled towards their respective goals. On the longest route, the final sprint determined the winner, with differences in tenths of a second.
At the finish, before the announcement of results, it rained again. In the end, when we concluded the event, the sun was out without a cloud in the sky.
AWARDS AND PRIZES
The top performers shared in the luxurious prizes from sponsors who supported the event. We awarded valuable prizes (BERK seat) to the fastest cyclists on the royal route of 130 km. The overall winner received a gift voucher for REVO sunglasses (VIDIM EYE CENTER). The top three also received gift bags from the official event vehicles (REAL CAR DEALERSHIP). GOSTIŠČE 902, located at the top of Črnivec, contributed prizes for the Črnivec Climb. We presented VITTORIA cycling tires to the fastest in their categories. The majority of prizes for the fastest in each category were provided by BL ŠPORT, the official cycling store of the event.

RICH STARTER PACKAGE AND FULL REGISTRATION BAG
Participants were delighted upon registration with a high-quality unique cycling jersey, available to all those who registered in advance and secured their participation by paying the registration fee at least 2 months before the event. This time is necessary for us to receive the jerseys from the orders and distribute them upon registration. These jerseys are available for viewing below. They will also be available in the online store on the official event website at www.alpegf.eu.
Others received a jersey from the regular collection, available for late registrations. The shorter route and climb, at a lower registration fee, included a high-quality functional event T-shirt. All participants also received:
- Entry voucher for pools at Terme Snovik
- Čevapčiči (grilled minced meat) or vegetarian meal at the finish
- Quality cycling water bottle
- Cycling socks
- Red Bull for additional energy
- Commemorative backpack
- Voucher for beer at the finish
We are happy that despite the bad weather and challenging routes, there were no serious accidents and very few withdrawals. This shows that participants come prepared for our event or choose a route suitable for their abilities. ALPE GRAN FONDO, with all its route configurations, is not an event to be underestimated.
