We are happy to announce that KAMNIK, as the host of what are definitely our most beautiful events, is once again in the spotlight. And this time, too, it’s well deserved.
As part of the re-evaluation and recertification process for the Slovenian Green Tourism Scheme, Kamnik has received the highest recognition, the Slovenia Green Destination GOLD award — a mark of gold excellence awarded by the Slovenian Tourist Board — for the third consecutive year. This once again confirms that Kamnik is successfully pursuing sustainable development and thoughtfully integrating natural beauty, a rich cultural heritage, and the high quality of life of the local community.
The certification is based on the international Green Destinations standard and covers the areas of destination management, nature conservation, resource management, community involvement, and visitor satisfaction. Kamnik began its journey toward sustainability in 2016 with a Silver certification, advanced to the Gold category in 2019, and has successfully maintained that status through 2026.
During the recertification process, numerous sustainability projects and the significant contributions of local tourism providers were highlighted, including Terme Snovik, Fairytale on Velika planina, and the restaurant Zeleni rob. The Municipality of Kamnik and the Kamnik Tourism and Sports Institute emphasize that the award represents both a recognition of their work to date and a commitment to the further development of sustainable, innovative, and environmentally friendly tourism products.
This third consecutive award of the Gold Certificate further strengthens Kamnik’s reputation as a green and boutique destination and confirms that sustainability remains one of the key guiding principles for the municipality’s future development.
